Privacy Policy

Money Hack Budget
Effective 9 August 2026

Money Hack Budget is made by Money Hack LLC. This policy covers the app and the Money Hack Forever website.

It is written to be read, not to protect us. Where the answer is "nothing," it says nothing. Where something does leave your phone, it says exactly what.

The short version

Your budget stays on your phone. Your income, your bills, your balances, what you owe, what you have saved — all of it is stored on your own device and none of it is sent to us. There is no account, no login, and no server holding your financial life. We could not show you your own budget if you asked us to, because we do not have it.

Two things do involve someone else, and each is listed in full below: checking for app updates, and joining the mailing list if you choose to.

1. Your financial information

Everything you enter into the app — income, paychecks, bills, credit cards, balances, savings, spending, notes — is written to storage on your device and stays there.

It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We hold no copy. If your phone is lost, we cannot recover your budget, because we never had it.

Delete the app and that data is deleted with it. The app can export your data to a file first, so you can keep your own backup.

2. Everything that leaves your device

This is the complete list.

Checking for app updates. When the app opens, it asks Expo's update service (u.expo.dev) whether a newer version of the app's code exists. That request carries technical details about the app and the device, such as the app version, your device type, and your operating system version. No budget data is included, and no name or account is attached to it. Expo's privacy policy is at expo.dev/privacy.

Subscription payments. If you subscribe, Apple's App Store or Google Play handles the entire transaction. You pay them, not us. Your card number, billing address and Apple or Google account details go to them and are never seen by us or by the app. What comes back is a receipt confirming that a subscription is active. It tells us a subscription exists — not who bought it.

That is the whole list. Those are the only connections the app makes. It contains no advertising, no tracking or profiling, no crash reporting, no social media SDK, no marketing tool, and no analytics of any kind.

3. Backups you control

If iCloud Backup or Google Backup is switched on, your phone's own backup may include the app's data, the same way it includes your other apps. That backup is between you and Apple or Google, under their terms and encryption. We are not part of it and cannot read it.

4. Exporting and sharing

When you export your budget or a tax report, the app hands the file to your phone's normal share sheet. Where it goes next — email, Files, a cloud drive, a message — is your choice, and once you send it, it is governed by whichever service you sent it to. The app does not upload it anywhere on its own.

5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, reminders about paydays and upcoming bills are scheduled on your device, by your device. They are not push notifications. Nothing is sent from us to you, and no server is involved. We do not know when a reminder appears, or whether you opened it.

Turn them off in the app's Settings, or all at once in your phone's Settings.

6. The website and the mailing list

If you join the waitlist or subscribe to updates on the Money Hack Forever website, you give us your email address. That is stored with Kit (kit.com), our email provider, and is used to send you news about the app.

We use it to send you news about the app, and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. You can also ask us to delete your address outright at the contact address below.

Joining the mailing list is entirely optional and is separate from the app. The app never asks for your email address and never sends it anywhere, and we do not link the addresses on our mailing list to any budget, subscription, or app installation.

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which keeps its own standard server logs.

7. If you email us

If you write to us for support, we have your email address and whatever you told us, for as long as it takes to help you and to keep a record of the conversation. That is ordinary correspondence, not data collection, and we do not add you to any list because you asked a question.

8. Children

Money Hack Budget is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app asks no one for their name, age, or email address, so we have no reason to hold anything belonging to a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information — by emailing us, for instance — write to us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to see, correct, export, and delete the personal information a company holds about you. Here is exactly what that means for each thing we might have.

Your budget: we do not hold it, so there is nothing for us to show or delete. It is already entirely in your hands — view it, change it, export it to a file, or delete it by removing the app.

Your email address, if you gave us one: write to us and we will show you what we have, correct it, or delete it. No charge, and no reason required.

We do not sell personal information, we have no arrangement under which anyone pays us for it, and we do not share it for advertising.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app ever begins collecting something it does not collect today — syncing across devices, for example — we will update this policy and say so plainly in the app before it starts. We will not begin collecting anything quietly.

The effective date at the top tells you when this was last changed.
