Money Hack Budget — Support

Something not working, or not making sense? Email jabby@moneyhackforever.com and I'll get back to you. I read every message myself.

When you write, it helps to include what screen you were on and what number looked wrong. A screenshot is worth a paragraph.

Common questions

Where is my data stored?

On your phone. Money Hack Budget has no account, no login and no server — your budget never leaves your device. See the privacy policy.

I got a new phone. How do I move my budget?

Settings → Export backup on the old phone, then Settings → Restore on the new one. Do this before you delete the app: because nothing is stored on our servers, we cannot recover a budget for you.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No, and you can't. The app deliberately has no bank connection. You enter what you earn and what you owe, and the app maps it to your paychecks. Staying manual is the point — it's what keeps you actually looking at your money.

Why does a bill show on a different check than I expected?

Every bill is assigned to the last paycheck that lands before it's due. Rent due on the 1st belongs to the check before the 1st, not to "this month". You can move any bill to a different check — tap it, then "Which check pays it".

A bill costs a different amount this month.

Tap the expense and change the amount. You'll be asked whether it's just this month or from now on — pick "Just this month" for a one-off, and next month goes back to normal by itself.

Can I edit an expense's name, due date or category?

Yes. Tap the expense anywhere you can see it and everything is editable — name, amount, due date, end date, category, and delete.

How do I stop a bill I've finished paying?

Tap it and set an end date under "When it stops". Nothing is projected past it, so future checks stop carrying a payment you've finished.

Can I have more than one budget?

Yes — Settings → Budgets. Useful for keeping a household and a business separate. Each one is completely independent.

I need my expenses for taxes.

Settings → Export expenses. Choose a year or a date range and you get a CSV that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, itemised and totalled by category.

How do I turn off notifications?

Settings → Notifications, individually, or all at once in your phone's Settings. Reminders are scheduled on your device — nothing is sent from us.
